Bra & Belt Sets
A bra and belt set (also called a "bedleh" or "bedlah") is the traditional starting point for a belly dance costume, and is still a good foundation for beginners, especially if you choose a neutral color - which in belly dance terms means gold or silver, as well as white or black!
The reason is that you can create a variety of costumes from a base bedleh by adding skirts (tight lycra, floaty chiffon, full satin) and harem pants in different colours. For your top half you can add boleros or shrugs, long gloves or arm bands.
Tip: Look carefully at the photos and beware of sets which are just a hip scarf with a butterfly top. Hip scarves are strictly for amateurs (or perhaps gypsy fusion) - for performance, you need a hip belt!
